Getting Out of Debt Fast: An Unlikely Story

Brad, not his real name, was just another regular guy. He was a good student. He attended college on a scholarship and graduated near the top of his class. He never imagined that he would fall into the debt trap when he joined the workforce. He did not spend lavishly but he did live the lifestyle, which he dreamt of when he was younger. He bought a nice car, rented his own apartment and furnished it tastefully with the latest electronic gadgets. Whatever debt he incurred, he figured he would not have a problem getting out of debt fast.

Brad applied for several good jobs after graduation. At first, he thought nothing of the rejections. He figured it was their loss for not hiring him. But, soon he had to find work to pay his bills. So he took up a job as a clerk in a retail chain store. He figured it would only be temporary when he wait for better opportunity. He was not worried about his rising debt. The money from his job was not helping him in getting out of debt fast enough. However, once he gets a proper job, he thought he would be getting out of debt fast. Soon, the money he was making was not enough to cover the basic monthly bills.

He had no choice but to take on a second job working part time at a hotel. The work was easy, but his schedule can only permits working the graveyard shift. It meant that for a few days in a week he was working double shifts between his two jobs.

It got worse for Brad during the financial tsunami, because his full time job was re-scheduled due to cut back. So, he started to work day and evening shifts. So he was often working triple shifts, and sometimes even quadruple shifts. At this point he was not getting out of debt fast, in fact he was well on the way to being burnt out. He was constantly tired and his health deteriorated.

Finally, in what seemed to be Brad's darkest moment, both of his jobs cut him to part-time and eventually to less than 4 hours a week. He had no idea what to do next. With the low income, he had all but given up hope of getting out of debt fast.

The Most Unlikely Solution to Getting Out of Debt Fast

Brad applied for an overseas teaching position in Japan as a lark. As luck would have it, he was granted the post. With nothing to lose, Brad left his life in America behind. The job came with a free accommodation and very few expenses. The decent salary, in addition, to some freelance internet work, allowed him to start getting out of debt fast.

Today, Brad is debt free, and well on his way to financial abundance due to some smart investing. Brad took advantage of the opportunities to make more money and never looked back.
